Welcome to the heart of the Alps, where the majestic Mont Blanc towers over the skyline! Discover the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB), an unforgettable trekking experience that takes you through France, Italy, and Switzerland. In this guide, we provide information about the route and the natural wonders that surround it, as well as useful tips to help you prepare for the adventure.
Our campsite: a comfortable base for your Tour du Mont Blanc
Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, our campsite is close to the TMB trail, a spectacular 170 km route that winds through France, Italy, and Switzerland. Please note that free camping below 2500 meters in Valle d’Aosta is prohibited, making our campsite an ideal solution for your tour.
How to reach us
Whether you are following the TMB clockwise or counterclockwise, our campsite is easily accessible:
- By bus
From the center of Courmayeur (we recommend the Piazzale Monte Bianco stop, at the entrance roundabout to the town where the tourist office is also located), take a convenient shuttle that stops at the campsite exit (book the La Zerotta stop).
- By cable car
From Piazzale Monte Bianco, follow the signs for Dolonne and take the cable car to Plan Chécrouit. From there, you can continue with the chairlift to Rifugio Maison Vieille (a stage of the TMB), and from there, after enjoying a good meal and with your back to Courmayeur, you will find a path that descends into the woods. It takes about an hour to reach the campsite.
- On foot
From Piazzale Monte Bianco in Courmayeur, follow the signs for Dolonne. The starting point of the trail to Chécrouit-Rifugio Maison Vieille is near the fun park. Once you reach the refuge, with your back to Courmayeur, you will find a path that descends into the woods. It takes about an hour to reach the campsite.
From France (Col de la Seigne and Rifugio Elisabetta)
- Following the official TMB itinerary
Just before reaching Lago Combal, take the path that goes up to the right to continue following the official TMB itinerary. After walking along the balcony of Val Veny, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Mont Blanc chain, you will reach Rifugio Maison Vieille in about 2.15/30 hours. With the refuge in front of you, you will see a path that descends into the woods on the left. It takes about an hour to reach the campsite.
- By bus from Lago Combal
From Lago Combal, continue to follow the main road that descends towards the valley floor. When you reach La Visaille and see a bar on your left, there is an opportunity to take the bus to the campsite (La Zerotta stop) on your right. You can buy tickets through the app at the following link: https://aosta.arriva.it/courmayeur-mont-blanc/ (2 euros for a single ride) or buy them directly on the bus, but with a surcharge (4 euros for a single ride). Alternatively, you can continue on foot, following the road for about half an hour until you find the campsite on your right.
